BOTOX® Injections and Other Non-Surgical Options in Gainesville, Florida

At the Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery we offer a number of non-surgical treatment options used to rejuvenate the skin and enhance a patient’s appearance, including Restylane®, sclerotherapy, dermabrasion, and BOTOX® injections. At our practice in Gainesville, Florida, we can determine if a non-surgical treatment or a combination of non-surgical and surgical treatments can meet a patient’s unique needs.

BOTOX® Injections

BOTOX® injections are performed in order to temporarily eliminate the appearance of laugh lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, and other types of fine lines and facial wrinkles. BOTOX® injections are minimally invasive and require no recuperation period or down time. We will be able to determine if you are a good candidate for BOTOX® injections at our Gainesville, Florida practice or may suggest an alternative procedure to meet your needs.

During BOTOX® injection treatment, the physician will administer a single or several carefully placed injections into specific treatment areas. The BOTOX® cosmetic solution works by safely paralyzing the muscles that cause facial wrinkles to appear. The entire procedure takes no more than 10 minutes. BOTOX® injections may also be used to treat a variety of other conditions such as eye muscle spasms and excessive perspiration. Treatment for non-cosmetic purposes with BOTOX® injections will be determined on a case by case basis at our Gainesville, Florida practice.

The results of a BOTOX® injection will gradually become apparent in the next three to five days after treatment and can last as long as three to four months. Additional BOTOX® injections may be administered as needed.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is performed to rejuvenate wrinkled or damaged skin, improving the skin’s appearance and texture. The procedure is commonly used to treat wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth, though it can also be used to treat uneven pigmentation or facial scars in some cases. We will be able to determine if you are a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing during a consultation at our practice or may suggest an alternative procedure to meet your needs. We may also determine if laser skin resurfacing should be combined with a surgical procedure such as a facelift or blepharoplasty to meet your needs.

During laser skin resurfacing, the physician will use a safe, highly controlled laser to remove layer after layer of damaged skin. The procedure is minimally invasive and requires only a short recovery period after treatment.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is performed to restore the smooth, healthy appearance of the skin’s topmost layer. The procedure is commonly used to treat acne scars, fine lines, and facial wrinkles. Dermabrasion can also be used to treat keratoses, a type of pre-cancerous skin growth. We will be able to determine if you are a good candidate for dermabrasion during a consultation at our practice or we may suggest an alternative procedure to meet your needs.

During the dermabrasion procedure, the physician will carefully scrape away the outermost layer of the patient’s skin. The physician will continue safely scraping away layers of skin until the wrinkle or scar is less visible. Additional treatments may be required, particularly if the treatment involves a large area of skin or if the scarring is deep.

When you visit our office, we will be able to provide you with more in-depth post-treatment instructions following dermabrasion. In general, it is recommended that patients do not pick at the scabs or crusts that form following dermabrasion. These will fall off naturally.
